Doernbecher Freestyle Livestream
Client Objective
Doernbecher Freestyle is a fundraiser built on storytelling, and this edition needed to work as a livestream-only, broadcast-first show during COVID. With no in-person audience, the stream was the entire event. Nike and the OHSU Doernbecher Foundation needed a production that felt polished, intimate, and reliable from the first cue to the final moment.
We built the show inside the Portland Art Museum and designed the workflow for consistent on-camera results. That meant clean camera coverage, confident playback, and crisp dialogue that was steady no matter the speed of the production. The goal was simple. Make every moment land on camera, keep transitions smooth, and give the team a system they could run without added stress. This is an important event, with shoe designs created by children with help from Nike employees. Everything had to be perfect.
Benefits and Results
Because remote viewers were the whole audience, the show had to feel intentional and broadcast-ready. A 1.5mm LED wall created a premium visual environment for presenters and content, while a multi-camera setup and a 24 foot jib added movement and energy without stealing focus from the stories.
Audio stayed clear and consistent through a broadcast-style mix and dialogue processing built for speech. Just as importantly, the crew stayed coordinated through show calling and comms, which kept the program predictable and on time. The result was a livestream production that felt elevated and seamless, with the technical side staying out of the way so the mission could lead. The event raised a substantial amount of money to help this amazing charity continue its mission.
